Zero Carbon Days

Some days around midday, California's wind and solar are forecast to produce more power than the whole state needs. Charging your EV in those hours adds less carbon.

How this works

We read CAISO's 7-day forecast and look for hours when the day-ahead net demand forecast (demand minus wind and solar) is below zero. "Peak excess" is how far below zero it goes, in megawatts. During those hours, wind and solar together are forecast to be more than demand.
